The Language Café Forum at ilinative.org is the place to meet for Native-language experts, teachers, speakers, learners, linguists, and anyone else interested in continuing the vitality of indigenous languages in North America and around the world.

Once inside the forum, you can browse through the conversation threads started by people like you who have questions about language and language programs. ILI’s network of educators, community scholars, and linguists join the discussion in the Café, helping answer any questions and offering advice. Sometimes, the conversation can go beyond the original inquiry as members of the forum follow tangents and other trains of thought.

The Language Café itself consists of a number of different subject areas, or “rooms”. If you are interested in something relating to language teaching, then the “Immersion and Education Room” is the place to visit. You can search through discussions of past visitors or read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to see if your question has been answered. If you have registered with the Café (a quick and easy process), you can post your own questions or, better yet, give your expert opinion in other threads. We welcome and encourage the full participation of all Café members, and hope that your knowledge can come together with others’ to make ILI’s Language Café an open and comfortable place to share information and experience.

Once inside the forum, you may want to look through the Rules and Guidelines; this covers the general policies of the Café. We also ask that, when starting a thread, you make your post with a topic title which is descriptive of your question or comment. A topic called “Help Me” is not a good signal to other forum users who wish to help.
