One of the most important functions of the Indigenous Language Institute is to provide technical training and assistance all people involved in the Native language revitalization field. This showcase exhibits some of the projects, publications, and videos created by people who have attended our workshops or have taken advantage of our Language Materials Development Center’s (LMDC) in-house audio/video services.
Educators, speakers and students are welcome to attend any of ILI’s Storytelling With Technology workshops. Each workshop is geared towards giving participants important and useful tech-knowledge with the goal of producing teaching materials, stories, audio, video and multi-media products with special attention on developing materials in the Native language.
There are many aspects of creating Native language materials on computers which require specific solutions, such as: easy Keyboarding and text-input, as well as universal and multilingual Unicode fonts. There is also a strong focus on integrating Audio components – so important in respecting the oral tradition.
The ILI workshop catalogue of offers courses organized by project and location. You can sign up for one of our travelling workshops, come to the LMDC in Santa Fe, or arrange a visit by some of our technical specialists to your community. Please contact us directly or see the catalogue for more information.
