Digital Storytelling Workshops

ILI is conducting a series of workshops in collaboration with the Genographic Legacy Fund. These workshops will provide community people with technology tools and skills to create audio-visual stories in their indigenous language.

The Digital Storytelling Workshop is a three-day workshop beginning in January 2008. Workshop participants will produce an audio visual material using computer technology and user friendly software programs. Participants receive instructor assisted training and computer software use of MovieMaker2, Audacity audio software, GIMP, and Windows Media Player features. Workshop participants will also learn to create storyboards and focus on hands-on lab activities under the guidance of instructors to create a short audio visual material in their Native language.

The topics of stories that we are seeking participants to create are:

  • Migration Stories
  • Place Names
  • Traditional Stories
  • Native Games
  • Humor
  • Lullabies
  • Family Tree Stories

The Language Materials Development Center offers more information about this and other workshops offered by ILI. Please send an e-mail to Bonita or Rachael for specific details, or call us at (505) 820-0311, extension 3.

Our Digital Stories informational brochure can be downloaded in the pdf format.
